Steve began his career as part of the Stremel & Associates team at the West Weigand office where he could pool his talents with one of the leading teams in the Wichita market. 

As a resident and businessman in Wichita for over 26 years, Steve chose Weigand because of the history of the company, built on integrity.  Steve got his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Kansas University and moved to Wichita in 1983 starting a career with IBM as a systems engineer and most recently as the Building Automation  Systems Manager for the Trane Commercial Sales Office.  After starting his own company, Southern & Associates, Inc. to represent various manufacturers over the years, Steve’s interest in real estate led him to add real estate investments around the country to the company’s business plan.  The local real estate market was the final step to complete the total offering of services.

Steve and his sons, Scott and Jeffrey have experienced the challenges of a growing family in this community.  The Southern men are active in volunteering for the Susan G. Komen Mid-Kansas Affiliate and are past chairmen of “Kids for the Cure.”  By working with an agent that has the experience of family and business growth, his clients can benefit from what he has learned.
